Chalama Black Opal is a new variety of Ethiopian Opal. This opal’s black body color is developed through a process. This process allows carbon to be deposited throughout the stone. Black Opal was discovered in 2008 and ever since the discovery it has become one of the most desirable of its kind. This is because it has vividly brilliant colors along with a great variety of striking patterns. Since the background of stones is darkened in Chalama Black Opal, the colors are even more visible. This process is via a closely monitored smoke treatment process. These gemstones go through rigorous testing to ensure stability.
