This is a truly substantial Amethyst specimen, weighing an impressive 17.7 kilograms. Large pieces of this scale and colour depth are becoming increasingly difficult to source, which is why they are often referred to as part of the “Antique World of Crystals.”
 
The rich purple colour suggests a Brazilian origin, known for producing some of the most vibrant Amethyst formations, could also be Uruguay. 
 
This piece carries history as well as presence. It comes from a 35-year-old collection, where it spent twelve of those years holding space within an Ashram — a quiet guardian in a place of reflection and spiritual practice.
Amethyst is a form of quartz coloured by trace elements within the crystal structure, creating its distinctive violet tones. It is a stone loved by many, often the first crystal people feel drawn to.
 
My own first Amethyst came when a friend found one lying in the street in Scotland on their way to my house — I still have it today… though it’s a little smaller than this magnificent piece.
